If the average shelf life of a high-tech object is less than eleven months, why on Earth does anything have to be built to be permanent? It should be all 100% disposable. You know, I think my laptop should be made of cardboard, or my mobile phone could be a piece of cardboard, or it could just be made out of something like sugarcane or bioplastic.

    Jim says:

Anyone who buys a high-tech object that has an average shelf life of eleven months is promoting design that was destined from concept to be trash; cardboard laptops or mobile phones will just further that trend. Designing and manufacturing for disposability is foolish. Designing with the ability to repurpose a quality product or its materials at the end of its life is a responsible way to ensure extended viability of materials and resources while minimizing the impact on long term value and usability.
